Be careful the next time you say “That’s quite ‘old’- fashioned”. You might not even be aware of how many current fashion trends you flaunt have been borrowed from the past.
They are heavily derived from the yester years and there still exists a strong correlation between what was and what is.This is how retro fashion trends came back and is still ruling the fashion industry! Here fashion is not merely clothing but also it is apparent in our accessories, make-up and even our hairstyles.Old fashion trends repeat themselves after some years. Those trends that were followed in the 80s or 90s are now again in fashion.
The only difference in these fashion tendencies is their modernization. The techniques in production in the textile industry have been upgraded in the past years and the quality of the materials used has also improved. Various types of fashions can be compared with their past fashion styles. The shapes of the fabric and styles that were used before are now crafted into styles that look completely innovated although they are renovations of past fashion designs.
Don’t believe it? Let’s start unfolding.
Polka Dots:
After the mid 1970s polka dots were totally out of the fashion scene. But look around today and you’ll see polka dots being worn as a bold fashion statement in night clubs and discos. This old fashion trend has come back from the dead and made its way back.

Minimalist Clothing
French designers André Courrèges and Pierre Cardin made mod shift dresses in the 1960s and Halston kept the streamlined silhouette going in the ’70s with monochromatic jersey dresses and stretchy jumpsuits. But in the ’90s it was Miuccia Prada who had the most staying power. Her simple shapes and sparse ornamentation were a welcome palate cleanser after the huge shoulder pads (and hair) of the ’80s, and they’re still popular today.
Pieces are still pared down but have bold details (like the asymmetrical seam seen here). Look for a striking hem or neckline and sharp cutouts. And when black and white collide, you get major impact—meaning no need for a lot of accessories.

Midi skirts
The length of women’s skirts has a long trail of history behind it- from moral to demographical and comfort. The graceful midi-skirts first came around in the 1940s.
Menswear
Thank designer Coco Chanel, who popularized pants for women in the 1920s. She also gets points for making sportswear separates, like jersey jackets and cardigans, that were designed to be stylish and comfortable on the go. Not far behind her: actress Katharine Hepburn, a trailblazer for the tomboy look in the ’30s; and ’70s musician Patti Smith, who added a little rock and roll to the mix.
Nowadays, a tuxedo jacket,tie-print pants and fun, feminine accents like daring jewelry and colorful high heels are unexpectedly posh (and relaxed).

Flared pants
Remember the old videos of rock bands performing with a guitar, exhibiting the flares from knee to ankle?! It keeps on resurfacing because of its visually appealing shape and definitely the way it balances bodies with a wider torso.
